This magnificent early 20th c antique rug was prod by Navajo Nat Am indigenous tribal hands, most likely in the vast 4 corner region of what's now AZ, NM, UT & CO. The sm mat is comprised of rich sepia brown colors of its jagged int border, resembling the diagonal configurations also found in antique Navajo 'eye dazzler' hand woven wool rugs prod in the same period as this magnificent, diminutive gem & superb example of early 20th c period Navajo wool weaving. The sepia brown jagged edges are interwoven w/creamy white. The center of the rug feats an orange red sq, upon which is woven the Navajo sacred tribal symbol of the 'Whirling Logs' realized in deep mint green & creamy white. The symbol's an ancient indigenous one & not a later European fascist one. Fine
